PPS’ Overseas Procurement Support for Businesses Produced Highest-Ever Export Records

The Public Procurement Service(PPS) has assisted companies in joining overseas procurement markets, which resulted in its largest success in 2023 with the increase in the number of promising procurement companies by 13.4% and export performance by 8.3% compared to the previous year. In 2024, the central procurement agency will establish new comprehensive overseas procurement support projects, provide tailored market information for the companies and nurture foreign procurement professionals.

On the 21st, Lm Ki-keun, PPS Administrator, attended the regular meeting of the Korea G-PASS Company Export Association held at the Seoul Office of PPS, where he presented commendations to seven outstanding companies for their overseas market entry, including Weltem.co.ltd and explained this year's overseas export support program.

PPS has assisted Excellent Government Procurement Companies in joining overseas procurement markets through business meetings with buyers, participation in foreign exhibitions and strategic support for businesses.

As a result, the number and performance of promising overseas procurement companies (G-PASS companies) have increased significantly each year, reaching a record high of $1.63 billion in export performance in 2023, contributing to the expansion of our country's exports.

The cause of this export growth is explained as the proactive efforts of domestic companies armed with technology to enter overseas markets, coupled with the systematic export support from PPS.

During his congratulatory speech, Administrator Lim emphasized, "This year, it is crucial for procurement companies to take the lead in expanding exports to accelerate economic recovery." He further stated, "PPS will continue to strengthen export support by operating comprehensive overseas expansion support projects, providing services tailored to the capabilities of companies. We will also expand the provision of customized overseas market information by both company and industry, as well as enhance the training of overseas procurement professionals from youth to existing industry personnel.“
